Christos Sorotos is a graduate of Political and Economic Studies of the Law School of the University of Athens and of Athens College. He has over forty years of professional experience in the banking and financial sector, with specialization in crisis management, financial restructuring, and corporate governance, in Greece, the United States, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, and elsewhere.
Throughout his career, he has served as Chief Executive Officer, Vice Chairman, and Chairman of Boards of Directors at major credit institutions and subsidiaries of international banking groups, including Citibank, Bank of America, the National Bank of Greece, Eurobank (EFG Group), Bank of Cyprus, and the Piraeus Bank Group. He has undertaken key executive roles during periods of heightened systemic pressure in Greece, London, the United States, Cyprus, and the Balkans.
Particular emphasis in his professional career has been placed on the management of non-performing loans and on large-scale financial restructuring projects. During the international and Greek financial crisis, he undertook “special mission” roles, with mandates to stabilize financial institutions, strengthen corporate governance, and implement rapid corrective interventions, in cooperation with supervisory authorities and international institutions.
